Services: Dental Bonding
Bonding is used to enhance the appearance of chipped, crooked, and discolored teeth and is an alternative to veneers. Bonding is a conservative and economical way to improve a smile.
How does bonding work?
The tooth is conditioned or etched and then a liquid bonding agent is applied to the enamel. On top of this a layer of composite resin is sculpted by Dr. Mengedoth into its optimal shape. The resin is then smoothed and polished to a natural appearance.
Deciding between bonding and veneers
Bonding is a procedure which is done in a single visit to the dental office and can significantly improve the appearance of the tooth and or smile. However, due to the strength of the resin not being as high as enamel or porcelain it is more likely to wear, chip and stain over time. Bonding will need more maintenance and will need to be replaced typically every three to five years, depending on the individual's tooth wear.
